A few years ago my family was vacationing in North Myrtle Beach, SC. We were staying at a beach front resort and on our way to the beach we saw a little Italian ice cart. We set our chairs on the beach and walked back to the ice cart and purchased a yummy Italian ice for the first time EVER.... and it changed what we thought about cold treats forever!
Honestly, we were a little shocked we had never eaten something so yummy.
Ok, ok. I know - you're thinking that everyone has tried the little cups or tubes of Italian ice from a grocery store. Sure. Yep, we had. But this was not that!
This non-dairy treat was creamy and smooth and man was it delicious!
We started joking around about bringing this yummy treat back to our side of South Carolina into our shop (We own a boutique and a flower/gift shop). Well, obviously, only some of the family was joking!
In Spring of 2024, we jumped in. We got the green light from the department of health then that same day we met with our supplier who has been in the Italian Ice business since he was 11 years old in New Jersey!
Then we added this yummy treat to our business and Sweet Racie's Authentic East Coast Italian Ice was born April 18th, 2024!
My dad built my first cart, and the first night we debuted my Italian Ice at a Third Thursday event in front of our shop - we sold out of 3 flavors! So - we built a second cart to prepare of our next event which was much larger and a city wide event!
Guess what!?
We sold out of over half of the Italian Ice that night!
So, this is the start of something good! And when I say good - I mean really yummy and good!
